NEGATIVE ADDICTIONS and DESIRES || Self-Control and What The Qura'an says?

Ya Ahlan Wa Sahlan!! (Hello and Welcome!!) ^u^

We're all defeated hearts, but not conquered.

We all make mistakes, at times we're hopeless towards everything, but still tend to hold that composure.

In other words, we're always captivated by fancy things that we come across in the Dunya (world) and their's always that one time in our lives, where we just tend to loose ourselves to the world's decked flattery and in-turn get welcomed by shortcomings like constant sins, painfully toiling and falling astray.

As, beautifully stated in the Qura'an:

"Oh mankind, Indeed you're ever toiling towards your Lord, painfully toiling... you shall meet Him."

Qura'an (84:6)

The topic that I found vital enough to be researched about is, "addictions", and I'm not just suspecting those major addictions with drugs and alcohol and so many more things, we might not even be aware of!

While composing this blog about "Addictions", I wanna touch upon all sort of addictions that have today enslaved us.

Ibn Taymiyyah (R.A) says,

"The one who is truly imprisoned is the one whose heart is imprisoned from God Almighty and the captivated one is the one whose desires have enslaved him."

(Ibn Al-Qayyim, Al-Wabil)

This dunya (world) is a framework of fake, ostensible things, where sins are such beautifully adorned that many of us often bend to it's glitter.

It's a constant, common trend that has been living among us to find "peace" through innumerable habits, objects and inventions.

There is no doubt that hard necessity is the great tonic which develops the mind and sharpens inventive powers, opening doors to endless possibilities.

As truly stated,

"Necessity is the mother of invention"

This is a very old and a very true proverb. In addition to this, Shakespeare mentioned in one of his plays,

"Sweet are the uses of adversity"

Both of these proverbs connect dots to the same very fact that, "need" spur men onto action.

Keeping the same idea in view, there's also another very well-familiar analogy: we've all heard the famous story of, "the crow in the fable" which illustrates that the crow wanted to drink water from a jar, being thirsty. The only thing that was aggravating to him was the narrow neck of the jar.

After much thought, he threw a number of small stones into the water, eventually it rose up to the edge and he was able to satisfy his thirst, which was it's "need".

If I compare this "need", this "urge" to satisfy our desires with the ex-cogitation of man and woman to satisfy their's, it won't be wrong!

To satiate their anxious self, to achieve composure, most of us have sadly chosen the wrong method of finding true "peace of mind".

We often forget to exercise fore-sight and most of the time we rush into an undertaking without careful consideration from each and every point of view, for instance, the pleasant and comforting feeling for many smoker's relax them, the find it as a way to "pamper and retreat" themselves.

In the nick of time,

What do you know??

"Man takes the drink, then the drink takes another drink, and finally drink takes the Man"

Eventually, it leaves you somewhat fighting a loosing battle.

But bear in mind that not every path is sludgy or coarse.. There are positive and Halal ways of finding mental peace,

Allah (SWT) says in the Qura'an:

"Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds." (42:30)

Bear in mind:

1. Hardships are a test.

2. They come from Allah (SWT).

3. Turn to Him.

4. Remain hopeful.

5. Examine your habits, your ways, your actions.

6. Pray (Salah, Qura'an, Dua'a, Tawakkul).

Don't loose hope and believe in allah (swt), here's my own personal experience with struggling with tawakkul, CLICK RIGHT HERE TO SEE

Don't carry this "disease", this "infection" of choosing evil ways of attaining a peaceful soul.

As, the glorious Qura'an states:

"O ye who believe! intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (pination by) arrows, are an abomination, of satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination) that ye may prosper".

(Qura'an 5:90)

Similarly stated,

"And say to the believing men that they shall lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do".

Equally described,

"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms.." (Qura'an 24:30-31).

Islam recommends marriage for their fulfillment  of natural desires and for procreation, but prohibits all other methods of attaining fulfillment to our natural wishing's.
